Come back, Visegrad

Article Abstract:

Central European countries have developed links, starting out with a meeting of Poles, Czechs, and Hungarians in 1991. A meeting in 1999 included not ionly the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland, but also Romania, Bulgaria, Germany, Slovenia, and the Czech Republic. The initial alliance geave rise to the Visegrad group, and the Central European Free-Trade Area, which has cut tariffs. The (European Union) EU has encouraged cooperation in Central Europe, which has given countries seeking to join the EU a greater incentive to cooperate.
