Comgas sale indicator of Brazil recovery

Article Abstract:

Brazil's Companhia de Gas de Sao Paulo (Comgas) drew bids in excess of the government's asking price. The consortium of purchasers was composed of Royal Dutch/Shell, BG and CPFL, a Sao Paulo power company. Other Brazilian state power companies to be sold include Comanhia Energitica de Sao Paulo (Cesp).

Brazil sells Light for $2.23bn

Article Abstract:

Electricite de France (EDF) of France, Houston Industries and AES Corporation of the US have acquired a controlling stake in Light SA of Brazil. Light is the second Eletrobras subsidiary to be privatised, and it will hold the electricity distribution operation in greater Rio de Janeiro.
