Concerns favored by Suharto may discover cost of perks

Article Abstract:

Companies closely linked with ex-President Suharto of Indonesia may find that they may no longer enjoy the lucrative perks affored to them in the past following the departure of the former president. Few investors are willing to deal with companies closely associated with the Suharto clan for fear of a backlash against Suharto. PT Bimantara Citra and Citra Marga Nusaphala Persada, owned by Suharto's son and daughter respectively, are among those firms that face the biggest threat.

South Korean steel maker may be a steal, analysts say

Analysts in South Korea's stock market thinks that Pohang Iron & Steel's stock price is a bargain. Despite the fall in share prices for 1995, the company reported record earnings for the same period. However, experts doubt the company's capability to repeat the same performance in 1996. Investors are advised to buy Pohang stocks due to its low price and an expected increase in steel prices.

Jingwei Textile may face rough debut as analysts voice concerns about sector
