Containment of a single polygon using mathematical programming

Article Abstract:

A new algorithm for the polygon containment problem is proposed. The algorithm, based on concepts from optimization theory, completely describes the optimal objective as a function of orientation. It determines the best placement with respect to the objective if the convex polygon Q cannot contain the convex or non-convex polygon P. The algorithm is straightforward to implement and use in decision support systems.

Hierarchical mathematical programming for operational planning in a process industry

Article Abstract:

A decision support system using mathematical programming techniques with acceptable calculation requirement times has been developed. The technique decomposes a large process industry operational planning problem into smaller problems which can be more effectively solved by mathematical programming. However, the decomposition of the problems results in generated values which do not provide the optimal solution.

Operational planning of a large-scale multi-modal transportation system

Article Abstract:

The operational planning system Planung und Optimierung Programm (POP) developed for Danzas Euronet, which is a merger of Deutsche Post Transport and Danzas NTO, is described. The repositioning aspects are taken into account integrally with the planning of the orders for achieving cost-efficient solution.
