Control and support in an international franchise network

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to determine the nature of multinational franchise organization using ethnographic methods. Results showed several mechanisms control and coordinate multinational franchise networks which are mainly non-coercive. These mechanisms include support function that help enhance control coming from franchisers. The main cause of conflict between franchisees and franchisers is dissatisfaction with the quality and quantity of support. These are further influence by the company size, external and internal negative perceptions of the firm which are market peculiarities.
