Cooking appliances in France

Article Abstract:

Sales of freestanding cookers in France total around 860,000 units a year, split between gas, dual fuel and electric. Sales of microwave ovens amount to around 1.3 million units a year. The total market for household appliances in France totals some 10 million units valued at 30 billion French francs a year, with cooking appliances accounting for 18%. The French cooking appliances market is dominated by four international manufacturers: EL,FI; Electrolux; Candy and Merloni. An overview of the French market for cooking appliances is presented.

Cooking appliances in Italy

Article Abstract:

The cooking appliance sector in Italy has been very buoyant during the 1990s. The production of most types of equipment has increased, with production of microwaves increasing by 116% between 1991 and 1995. Microwave oven sales grew by 61% during this period, and consumption of hobs and traditional ovens also increased, although the figure for cookers fell by 8%. Price rises have been below the general cost of living increase. Production is concentrated in a few large companies, and profiles of the major manufacturers in Italy are included.

Cooking appliances in Germany

Article Abstract:

The German retail market for cooking appliances is valued at around 3 billion Deutschmarks per year, with the market expected to fall 1-2% in 1995 before recovering slightly in 1996. Annual output of electric ovens, hobs and cookers stands at about 3.1 million units, valued at around 2 billion Deutschmarks at manufacturers' selling prices. Electric cookers are more popular than gas. The market for built-in appliances is growing while the market for freestanding appliances is declining. The market is examined.
