Cool Dada

Article Abstract:

The MERZbarn relief is a work of art by Kurt Schwitters, and German Dada artist, which is located in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, in a gallery belonging to a university. The work is in the form of a wall with objects forming part of it. Some other works by Schwitters in Germany and Norway have since been destroyed in a bombing and a fire respectively. Schwitters used everyday objects in his art and his work is both part of the period when he worked and transcends it.
