EID PARRY (INDIA)

Article Abstract:

EID Parry (India) (EPI) earns two thirds of its revenues from fertiliser and other farm inputs. Its facilities are located at Ranipet and Ennore, both in Tamil Nadu. It produces single super phosphate (SSP), ammonium phosphate and other complex fertilisers. EPI has two sugar mills in Tamil Nadu at Nellikuppam and Pugalur with a capacity of 5,000 tonnes crushed per day (tcd) and 3,000 tcd respectively. It is engaged in the manufacture of alcohol, acetic acid and acetaldehyde and ceramic sanitaryware. In 1997-98, its net profit had increased by 28 percent to Rs385.8 million. Its sales had increased by 20 percent to Rs9130.3 million. It plans to spend Rs3 billion on expansions of its various divisions. (rk)

DHARAMSI MORARJI, UPF TO MERGE

Article Abstract:

The two firms of Goculdas group - Dharamsi Morarji Chemicals (DMC) and Udaipur Phosphates and Fertilisers (UPF) - plan to merge. Under the merger scheme, the shareholders of UPF will get two shares of DMC for every seven shares they hold in UPF. DMC which manufactures single super phosphate (SSP) has 579,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) of SSP capacity. UPF has a manufacturing capacity of 66,000 tpa. The merger plan is to lower overheads for phosphatic fertilisers by consolidating marketing set up of both the companies. (gs)(m)
