Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan is being pursued by two of Europe's leading companies. Both Renault and DaimlerChrysler AG are hoping to obtain a controlling interest in Nissan, in return for an infusion of cash which the company desperately needs.

Opel's falling European market share drives consternation at parent GM

General Motors Corp. has become increasingly frustrated by the disappointing performance of its Adam Opel AG unit in Germany. Opel has been hurt by weak sales and its inability to increase its market share in Europe.
