DaimlerChrysler assumes control of 3 Smart dealers

DaimlerChrysler AG will assume control of three Smart car dealerships in Paris, France. The company will take control of the dealerships after it completes a similar move in Berlin, Germany. The move is an attempt by DaimlerChrysler to strengthen its unstable distribution network. The company will take control of three of the five distribution units in the Paris market.

Jardine makes a bid to acquire a part of Cycle & Carriage

Jardine Strategic Holdings Ltd. is making a conditional bid to acquire a minority share of Cycle and Carriage Ltd. based in Singapore. Jardine has made an offer of 3.30 Singapore dollars (2.22 euros) per share to acquire the share, which was increased beyond the 25% point.

Singapore Airlines posts 33% increase in annual net profit

Singapore Airlines posted an increase of 33% in its net profits for the year ending March 31, 2001. The carrier posted S$1.55 billion (975.15 million euros) in net profits for the year.
