Defeating the bad guys

Article Abstract:

US crime rates have dropped in the six years to 1998, and this is especially true of some major cities. There are a number of factors which have been cited as reasons for this drop in crime. such as zero tolerance policies. Increases in numbers of policemen and reorganizations so that more are on the streets rather than behind desks may also have helped. More people have been imprisoned. There are also demographic factors, since there are fewer men aged between 15-years-old and 21-years-old. Social changes such as lower alcohol consumption and more people watching TV at home may also be important.
