Denmark: Post Danmark & Deutsche Post in alliance plans

Post Danmark (the Danish Post Office) is negotiating with its German counterpart Deutsche Post about joining the German Post Office's network through an alliance. The alliance would take place through Pan Nordic Logistics packaging alliance. The Danish minister of communications, Jacob Buksti, confirms this information. Post Danmark's MD Helge Israelsen declines to give any details about its plans but confirms that Post Danmark is looking for a partner with a global scope.

Post Danmark is to hive of its parcel delivery division as from 1st January 2002 in order to be able to take part in the consolidation of the European parcel and courier business. Post Danmark is thus looking for a partner for the new division. There are discussions under way with a number of would-be partners but MD Helge Israelsen declines to disclose the names of these partners.

Denmark:Minister says Post Danmark will be sold in 2003
Article Abstract:
The new Danish minister of communications, Flemming Hansen, says the Danish Post Office (Post Danmark) will have been turned into a limited company by the end of 2002. Then in 2003 it will be possible to spread the ownership rights. He says it is too early to say whether the sale will take place through a stock market listing.
