Dresdner quits European mezzanine market

Article Abstract:

Dresdner Kleinwort Benson has sold its mezzanine finance unit to four former executives. This operation has now been named Indigo Capital. Dresdner plans to focus on senior debt, while Indigo will be free to handle its own dealflow without competing with Dresdner's acquisition finance and private equity units. The mezzanine finance business was originally created in 1990, making 14 investments in the UK and in continental Europe.

ING loses Barings

Issues concerning the agreed acquisition of ING Barings' US investment banking department by ABN AMRO of Holland are discussed. ING Barings' plans to integrate all of its branches into ING Europe and ABN's plans to expand globally are presented.
