Dying for another hit

Article Abstract:

The latest project for Chinese filmmaker Chen Kaige is a historical epic about an attempted assassination of Qin Shihuangdi, the first emperor of China. He is putting a great deal at stake with this project, which is costing around $20 million. In particular, he is risking his reputation, especially in the light of the fact that 'Temptress Moon,' his last film, was not very well received. He believes that it is not fair that Chinese filmmakers are only taken seriously when they make films with a strong political message.
