The architectural features of the latest extension to the University of Durham funded by the United Arab Emirates' (UAE) ruler Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al-Qassimi are presented. The building has a variety of timber-framed facade design within a steel frame, which provides the desired subtle curves of the main elevations and roofline.

Late Andrew Doolan's last building, a modern extension to a Victorian suburban building is situated in Edinburgh's Grange district. The building, a clear winner of Edinburgh Architectural Association Awards for 2004, was designed to express as little structural framing as possible and by silvering even the internal steel columns.
