Empl streckt F hler nach Osteuropa aus

Article Abstract:

The Austrian Kaltenbach-based vehicle manufacturer Empl is to found a joint venture in Estonia in 1999. Empl is to contribute the know-how and the Estonian partner the infrastructure. Empl sees Estonia as a test market from where it can later expand business to the neighbouring east European countries. Empl produces fire-fighting vehicles and chassis, trailers and semi-trailers for lorries. In Kaltenbach, in Hall near Innsbruck and in Kl den near Berlin, the group employs altogether 188 people. In the fiscal year to 30 June 1998, turnover grew by 2% to Sch 210mn. Exports accounted for 40% of turnover.

B hler kauft in den USA ein

Article Abstract:

The Austrian special steel producer B hler-Uddeholm has taken over the high-speed steel division of the US Pittsburgh-based group Allegheny Teledyne. The takeover comprises a turnover volume of Sch 380mn and a production volume of about 4,000 t. With the acquisition, B hler-Uddeholm increases the output of high-speed steel to 14,000 t per year. The company is the world's second largest supplier of high-speed steel for tools such as drills and cutters.

B hler und Thyssen uneins

Article Abstract:

According to B hler Uddeholm's chief executive Claus Raidl, his company has suspended talks with Thyssen of Germany about the merging of the two companies' forging sectors. B hler, which has a forging plant in Kapfenberg, insisted on a majority stake in the merged company. Being a major supplier to the aircraft industry, B hler sees great potential for the forging division. The company's clients include Boeing and Airbus.
