Markt f r Ackerschlepper auf der Kriechspur

Article Abstract:

In the next few years, Jim Rankin from the South African Agricultural Machinery Association expects annual sales of tractors in South Africa to stabilise at 6,000-7,000 units due to replacement demand. In 1997, tractor sales fell by 5.4% to 5,721 units. With a market share of 21%, New Holland/Fiatagri was the most popular make. Tractor prices are relatively high in South Africa. While the prices range from R 27,000 to R 1.1mn, the most popular tractors cost between R 150,000 and R 250,000. However, an 11% price decrease by Massey Ferguson at the end of 1998 indicates an increasing competition on the market. About 30 domestic and foreign tractor makes are available in South Africa, against only 15 ten years ago. Many manufacturers concentrate on special tractors for the flourishing citrus fruit and grape production. Tractors for sugar and grain production are also important.

Markt f r Ackerschlepper auf der Kreichspur

Article Abstract:

In 1997, sales of tractors in South Africa fell by 5.7% to 5,721 units. In future, demand is expected to reach 6,000-7,000 units per year, as the stock of tractors is rather old. The average is between 10 and 15 years. While Vetsak, the distributor of New Holland and Fiatagri machines increased the price by 4% in March 1998, Massey Ferguson cut it by 11% in April. This is regarded as a sign of increasing competition.
