Consumer demand outstrips catches

The French are one of the largest fish consumers in the European Union. Formerly, catching and importing of fish covered the country's demand for fish. The adverse repercussions of the recent implementation of European Commission's regulations on French fishing industry are discussed.

Chile's record earnings for the few!

The fishing industry in Chile has switched to quota system. This has resulted in record earnings as well as cost reductions. However, the industry has also ended up in hands of very few players.
