Epic journey

Article Abstract:

Liverpool Street Station, London, England, has been successfully restored and updated. The original station was finished in 1875 but its irregular layout to accommodate long-distance and local trains was not wholly successful. The redevelopment has retained and extended the original fine trainshed roof and a new transept linking Broadsgate and Bishopsgate improves conditions for travellers. However, a concourse, with shops on the upper level, has been designed on an airport model and seems muddled.
