Experimental evaluation of a graphical display system to visualizing multiple criteria solutions

Article Abstract:

One of the major drawbacks of multiple criteria methods is the poor set of mechanisms for examining alternatives or solutions. Alternative solutions must be presented to the decision maker in a clear and concise way that makes it easy for the decision maker to analyze their various tradeoffs. A graphical display system (GRADS) that provides multiobjective solutions is presented. GRADS permits the decision maker to analyze the tradeoffs between the objectives from a given set of finite alternative solutions.

An application-based agenda for incorporating OR into an AI design environment for facility design

Article Abstract:

The integration of operations research/management science with artificial intelligence methods was proposed to develop a complete, computer-based design support system. This resulted in a model that concentrates on the designer's requirements and behaviors and the contextual elements of design that have been disregarded by traditional methodologies. Moreover, the model allows for a knowledge-based system structure that provides interactive assistance.
