FRANCE: SODEXHO'S STRATEGY

Article Abstract:

Sodexho, which specialises in services and food services in other countries, is present in 70 countries. It grew though acquisitions and mergers, and now its new internal strategy is once again to focus on internal growth. One of the principal elements in the group's strategy is innovation. At its forum at Marseille in June 2000, Sodexho presented I-solution, an electronic sales program which makes it possible to place an order on-line for a meal or for a complementary services; Easy Pass, a fixed price meal ticket which can be purchased in advance so that it is not necessary to wait in line at the cash register; and Club Frimousse, a nutritional education program for children from 7 to 12 years old.

France: Review and goals of Delmotte company

Article Abstract:

Delmotte, the French mass-produced pastry company, intends to make a turnover of FFr 100mn in 2003, up compared with FFr 70mn in 2000, and with FFr 45mn in 1999. The company also intends to continue the development of its export operations. It has set a growth objective of 30% per year. Therefore, Delmotte is counting on distribution channels in other countries. It is teaming up with local competitors in order to gain access to the markets in other countries. This enabled Delmotte to make 28% of its turnover from international markets in 2000, compared with 11.1% in 1999.

FRANCE: REVIEW OF XAVIER GOURMET

Article Abstract:

The French small business based in Brittany, Xavier Gourmet, which specialises in top of the range frozen pastries and cakes, turns over FFr 53mn (with 120 employees), of which 20% in export. Thanks to its know-how and French cuisine reputation, this small business knows how to conquer international markets. In actual fact, it exports its products to 21 different countries, including the USA, which is Xavier Gourmet's number one market, with Japan being its second.
