Fifteen indicted in NYSE case

Article Abstract:

Elite floor traders (15) of the New York Stock Exchange have been indicted on securities fraud in civil proceedings by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. Investors were cheated of more than $158 million by unlawful trading of the exchanges seven specialist firms. The New York Stock Exchange has plans to videotape its traders.

Langone lobbies against NYSE deal

Billionaire Kenneth Langone is now lobbying investors to vote against the New York Stock Exchange Inc.'s plan to acquire Archipelago Holdings Inc. Recently he formed a group of investors in a bid that stalled for the acquisition of the New York Stock Exchange Inc.

Janus Capital cuts deeper into staff

Article Abstract:

Janus Capital Corp. is planning to implement layoffs in its shareholder services division. The company, which is being hurt by its struggling stock mutual funds, will layoff 45 additional employees. This brings Janus' total layoffs to 513 since February 2001.
