Fight for your rights

Article Abstract:

Marketing agencies are advised to consider the growing concentration of the Canadian food retailing industry among the nation's five biggest retailers. The industry is facing a virtual monopoly that will not be good for the marketing of existing brands nor for the development of new brands. To get a glimpse of the future, one needs only to look at the European food service sector where slotting fees of over C$1 million per chain for a six-month period is the common practice.

Advertisers tackle flyer delivery

Article Abstract:

Major retailer advertisers and media representatives in Canada have organized the Flyer Distribution Standards Assn (FDSA) in an attempt to improve control of the distribution of the estimated 10 billion flyers sent to Canadian households annually. The important issue confronting the C$1 billion advertising medium is distribution accountability. The FDSA is already conducting negotiations with the Audit Bureau of Circulations and Canadian Circulations Audit Board.
