Directional bias of the l(sub p)-norm

Article Abstract:

An accurate approximation technique of estimating travel distances in continuous location theory transportation network problems is evaluated. It is shown that evaluating the l(sub p)-norm for p values greater than two can be similarly derived from the interval ranging from one to two with a 45 degree axis rotation. This was derived from a detailed study of the directional bias of the l(sub p)-norm.

Formulation of confidence intervals for estimated actual distances

Article Abstract:

A new method to calculate the confidence intervals for estimated actual distance is devised. In addition, the prediction accuracy of these two distance functions is compared using confidence intervals and actual distance data from 17 geographical regions.
