Forzani sticks to offence

Forani Group Ltd (FGL) has successfully turned itself around since its financial trouble began in 1996. FGL Chmn and CEO John Forzani has announced that the company has attained its best year ever in 2000, with sales of $563 million and net income of $14.3 million. It has emerged as the largest specialty sports retailer in Canada, with a 12% share of an estimated $6-billion market across the country. The company engineered the turnaround through smart business and marketing decisions and by staying on the offensive.

Nevada Bob's tries new brand stance

Article Abstract:

Nevada Bob's Canada Inc announced that it will merge with gold equipment manufacturer GDH International Inc and Nevada Bob's Pro Shop, on Sep 20, 1999. The new company will control 247 Nevada Bob's golf stores in Canada, the US, UK, Australia and Japan. The stores will then be realigned to the new brand image developed for Nevada Bob's Canadian stores. Nevada Bob's new brand image touts a better storefront, improved customer service and an expanded line of higher-end products.
