High-tech gases up Shell's pump sales

Article Abstract:

Shell Canada recently launched its easyPAY system in Calgary that combines high-tech and convenience for gas consumers. The high-tech system uses a specially programmed transponder that electronically signals to the gas pump and charge fuel to the customer's credit card. The transporders are mounted in either a key tag or a vehicle window, thus, there is no need for customers to go to a kiosk or even slip their credit card into the fuel pump. easyPAY will only come to Shell Canada service stations with high-tech pumps capable of communicating with the transporders. Shell will be giving consumers two of the programmed tags free. The company will also launch an integrated ad campaign to support the easyPAY system and entice more customers into its service stations. -mounted
