Funds coloured green

Article Abstract:

Mutual fund management company, CS Group, first realized the potential of offering environmentally-minded portfolios to the investment market. Hence, it introduced its Credit Suisse Equity (Lux) Eco Efficiency in 1990, which marked the birth of green mutual funds. CS Group's launching of its eco-funds did not immediately start a trend. A few years after, however, Bank Sarasin, Swiss Bank Corp and Swissca. followed suit. In the 1990s, figures prepared by Bank Sarasin show that the four mutual fund management companies are handling 850 million Swiss francs-worth of eco-funds.
