GM and Ford lose more share in Europe market

Article Abstract:

Both General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. of the United States are continuing to lose sales in the European passenger automobile market. General Motors Corp. market share in Europe fell to 10.6 percent in the past ten months and third quarter net loss was $1.6 billion. Ford Motor Co. market share in Europe fell to 10.8 percent in the last ten months and net loss for the third quarter was $284 million.

Ford will shed 28% of workers in North America

Article Abstract:

Ford Motor Corp. of the United States is restructuring, shedding 28 percent of the North American workforce or greater than 60,000 jobs. The automobile company plans to close 14 factories and seven assembly plants in North America. Ford Motor Co. has announced a $1.55 billion loss in revenue at its North American operations for 2005.

S&P cuts rating on GM and Ford to junk status

Article Abstract:

General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. of the United States have both had their credit ratings cut by Standard & Poor's Corp. The downgrading came because of doubts about business strategy, particularly the heavy reliance on promotion of sport-utility vehicles, sales of which are falling.
