GREECE: UNDERGROUND CONTRACT UNDER THREAT?

Article Abstract:

Six competitors are believed to be planning protests against the contract to be signed in mid-April 2000 by the Athens underground railway operator Attiko Metro with a consortium led by Alpine Bau GesmbH of Austria for the extension of the underground railway line number 2. The consortium that includes also Wayss & Freytag of Frankfurt and Attikat of Greece submitted a Dr 12.5bn bid for the construction of the 3-km line that is to be constructed within 30 months. The line will cross the stream Kifissos.

Morocco: Rail invitation to tender

Article Abstract:

The Office National des Chemins de Fer (ONCF), the Moroccan National Railroad Office has issued an invitation to tender for work on the Borj Moulay Omar railroad tunnel, and to add a second rail line between Sidi Kacem and Meknes. GREECE: AUSTRIAN TUNNEL TECHNOLOGY

Article Abstract:

A new tunnel construction method developed in Austria will be used in the construction of the underground railway network of Athens. An underground railway line completed in January 2000 is to be extended by an Austrian-Swiss consortium led by Alpine Baugesellschaft.
