Eni to cede key role in Kashagan oil field: company won't be the sole operator with deal on project

Article Abstract:

Italian energy firm Eni S.p.A. has surrendered its position as sole operator of Kazakhstan's Kashagan oil project in order to end a dispute with the Kazakh government regarding production delays and cost overruns. Eni will now jointly operate the project with France's TOTAL S.A., Royal Dutch Shell PLC, and US-based Exxon Mobil Corp.

Italy's Eni is back in Venezuela with oil-production deal

Article Abstract:

Italian petroleum firm Eni S.p.A. clinched a production deal with state-operated firm Petroleos de Venezuela S.A. The agreement gives a 40% stake to Eni and a 60% stake to Petroleos. The block has a predicted 2.5 bil barrels of oil equivalent, and production is expected to begin at 30,000 barrels per day in 2010.
