Gazprom wants majority stake in large Siberian exploration project; BP Amoco-led consortium plans exports to China

Article Abstract:

RAO Gazprom is interested in purchasing a 50% share of a big Siberian gas project led by BP Amoco PLC that would export gas to China. The project would cost up to $10 billion (Euro10.42 billion) to fully develop, and would signify the first link between the natural resources of Russia and China's demand for energy.

Gas dispute pinches Europe

Article Abstract:

Russia's decision to resume its supply of natural gas to Ukraine is discussed. It is explained that government-owned OAO Gazprom had cut off natural gas shipments to Ukraine over a price dispute, and that the move is seen as a reflection of tense relations between Ukraine and Russia since the election of pro-Western Ukrainian President Viktro Yushchenko.

BP set to leave Russia gas project: sale of majority stake to Gazprom would tighten Kremlin's grip on energy

Article Abstract:

TNK-BP Ltd., BP PLC's Russian joint venture, may sell to OAO Gazprom its 62.7% stake in Russia's Kovykta field for nearly $1 bil in a deal still under negotiation. Gazprom and BP would then dedicate $1.5 bil each to begin forming a global joint venture for other projects.
