Valid inequalities for a class of assembly system problems

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the resolution of assembly line balancing, assembly system design and workload smoothing problems by the use of a cutting plane approach. The relationships existing among integer programming formulations are discussed.

Generation and presentation of nearly optimal solutions for mixed-integer linear programming, applied to a case in farming system design

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the development of mixed-integer linear programming models which feature near optimal solution analysis. The use of branch-and-bound algorithms to determine near optimal solutions is discussed.

Scheduling of industrial distribution manifolds with pre-conditions

Article Abstract:

A study has been conducted to develop a new and general formulation for the scheduling with operational precondition of two types of valve distribution manifolds, respectively, single and double seat valve manifolds. The proposed flowpath model was developed to account for simultaneous operation of compatible flowpaths with different transfer times. Findings have indicated that this formulation has the advantage of being flexible and generic since it can describe a wide variety of real problems in the industrial level, such as the incompatibility of material transfers and operational pre-conditions.
