High/low mix of AEW&C may fill E-3 gap

Article Abstract:

Boeing and Northrup Grumman are behind a US Air Force study looking into the possibility of establishing a high/low configuration of airborne warning and control sytems (AWACS). The study is searching for solutions on the problem of E-3B/C AWACS overcommitments. Both companies are proposing that the Boeing 737-700 platform equipped with Northrop's MESA active array radar and Boeing's OSA mission system be used in relieving pressure on the E-3Bs.
