Greece launches AFDS program

Article Abstract:

One hundred Autonomous Flight Dispenser System (AFDS) weapons made by LFK, a subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler Aerospace, will be introduced into service by the Hellenic Air Force (HAF) by mid-2000. The weapons, which were ordered in Jul 1998, will first be installed on the A-7E/H Corsair II aircraft and later on HAF's upgraded F-4E Phantoms. The AFDS is a gliding submunition dispensing weapon based on the DWS-39 used by the Swedish Air Force.

Bulgarian mine to be made in Greece

Article Abstract:

PYRKAL will assemble and test in Greece the PDM-2H anti-amphibious landing mine developed and made by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Institute of Metal Science. Also, the Greek ammunition firm will supply the power- management system, while Greek battery maker Germanos, will provide the mine's battery. Derived from the PDM-2C-2, the PDM-2H is microprocessor controlled and can be remotely controlled either from shore or a vessel.

Greece updates mortar inventory with latest order

Article Abstract:

Hellenic Arms Industry has received a three-year, $11.6 million contract to supply the Hellenic Armed Forces with 475 E-44 81mm mortars, with an option for an additional 450. An initial delivery of 80 mortars is scheduled for Nov 2000, with subsequent deliveries of 100 a month following. The mortars will replace World War II-vintage M-1 mortars supplied by the US.
