Grocers, dairies fined in Britain over price fixing

Article Abstract:

The Office of Fair Trading, Britain's consumer advocate entity, is leveling fines of up to $236 mil on supermarkets and dairy companies that have admitted to price fixing. Grocery firms ASDA Group Ltd. and J Sainsbury PLC and several dairies revealed price fixing for cheese, butter, and milk in 2002 and 2003. Other firms are fighting the charges.

Parmalat's bondholder pact is upheld

Article Abstract:

A plea-bargain request by Italian financial services firm Nextra was upheld in proceedings stemming from allegations of market rigging connected to the collapse of diary company Parmalat S.p.A. Nextra will reimburse bondholders for 1% of the nominal value of bonds issued prior to their loss of value.
