Gtech to be acquired by operator of Italy's lottery for $4.6 billion

Article Abstract:

With the acquisition of Rhode Island-based GTECH Holdings Corp. by Italian lottery company Lottomatica S.p.A., the two companies will be forming a combined multinational enterprise with revenues estimated at $1.9 billion. GTECH, which is the world's largest operator of computerized lotteries, will run the new company from headquarters in Rome, Italy.

Sportingbet slides 40% as shares resume trade

Peter Dicks, Chairman of Sportingbet PLC of the United Kingdom has been detained in New York concerning an outstanding warrant for illegal internet gambling in Louisiana. Shares in the online gaming business fell by 40 percent to 144 Pence ($2.69).

Genting puts bet on Rank with purchase of stake
