Hanoi says budget deficit, weak revenue are focus

Article Abstract:

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Phan Van Khai emphasized the need to control the country's budget deficit during opening of the National Assembly. Khai noted that Vietnam needs to improve its fiscal management to ensure funds to finance valuable infrastructure development projects. One of the main reasons for Vietnam's weak revenue performance has been tax evasion. Some sectors are considering reforms in the revenue-sharing to allow local governments to retain most of their revenues.
