Higher education and planning - towards a better relationship

Article Abstract:

Growth in the higher education sector in the UK has seen both rapid expansion and constraint. Periods of expansion have seen debate on campus design and wider planning implications. Many universities have had to operate independently in the planning field seeking ways of increasing the value of their estates and there is a unique interface between universities and local planning authorities.

A study examining the involvement of youth and children by motivational planners in initiatives setup by the local and central governments in New Zealand, the structures and processes adopted for developing participatory approaches and the types of projects developed, is presented.
