Hong Kong food shoppers begin to challenge wet-market custom

Article Abstract:

Shoppers in Hong Kong have long been going to wet markets to obtain their groceries. These days, however, Wellcome and ParknShop, two major supermarket chains, are attracting an increasing number of younger shoppers with more than 400 clean, well lit stores offering convenience and high standards of hygiene.

Are tourist doldrums over in Hong Kong?

Article Abstract:

Japanese tourism of Hong Kong has declined because of Japanese economic conditions, the lost mystique of Hong Kong as a British colony, and because of a weaker Yen. The Hong Kong Tourist Association however plans to attract Japanese visitors by planning special event activities and through promotional campaigns.

Prospective tenants are turning away from Cyberport

Information technology companies are losing interest in Hong Kong development project Cyberport, the HK$15.8 billion real estate park being built along the waterfront, ten kilometers southwest of the main business district. Potential tenants are worried that despite the low rents offered, the area lacks research and development facilities and experienced programmers.
