Hungry mouths to feed

Article Abstract:

Financial companies are buying out food and beverage companies and this is especially evident in the United States. Clayton Dubilier acquired Kraft Foodservice for $700 million while Onex bought Martin Bower National Accounts Division for $147 million. Asset disposals have increased during the 1990s and lenders are attracted to the food sector because it generates a stable profit. There is a large amount of private equity available for these investments.
