INA is allowed to defend itself against rival

Article Abstract:

A Roman court ruled Thursday that Istituto Nazionale delle Assicurazioni SpA (INA) is allowed to defend itself against a Euro12.2 billion takeover bid launched by its larger competitor Assicurazioni Generali SpA. The ruling overturned an earlier verdict from Consob, Italy's securities regulator. The court's verdict enables INA's board to take actions like selling assets, making acquisitions, forming alliances, and paying special dividends without having to gain the approval by 30% of shareholders at a special meeting.
