Indo Gulf Corporation Limited (IGCL), Jagdishpur, Sultanpur district in Uttar Pradesh has set up a copper smelter complex in Gujarat. The complex has the capacity of 100,000 tonnes of copper cathodes per annum (tpa). It also has the built-in provision to expand up to 150,000 tpa. IGCL has also started commercial production at its continuous cast copper rod plant in March 1998. During the month, it commissioned the refinery and the anode casing plant. It is also on the verge of commissioning its phosphoric acid plant. The company has announced its unaudited financial results for the quarter ended December 31, 1998. (ag)(m)

IPCL PLANT GOES ON STREAM

Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd (IPCL) has commissioned its 160,000 tonnes per annum high density polyethylene plant at Dahej on March 26, 1999. The plant, based on process licence from Hoechst AG of Germany, has not incurred any cost or time overrun. IPCL is now the largest producer of polyethylenes in India covering the entire polyethylene range, with a combined capacity of 540,000 tonnes per annum. (khr)
