ITALY: PAGO TO BUILD FRUIT JUICE FACTORY

Article Abstract:

The Austrian fruit juice maker Pago, which is part of Osterreichische Braubeteiligungs-AG (BBAG) beverage group, is to spend Sch 200mn on the construction of a fruit juice factory in Pescara, Italy. Start-up of the plant that will initially have a capacity of 400,000 hl is scheduled for spring 2001. In September 1999 Pago inaugurated a factory in Tarragona, Spain. The expansion of this plant is one of the investments planned by BBAG in Austria and western Europe for year 2000, for which the group has earmarked Sch 1bn. Fruit juice is the main product with which BBAG is expanding in western and southern Europe, while the group's east European operations focus on beer.

ITALY: PAGO SEEKING GROWTH IN SUPERMARKETS

Article Abstract:

Pago, the Klagenfurt-based fruit juice producer is to boost sales through the food retail trade in Italy. The Austrian company is betting especially on the southern Italian market. Pago Italia has already gained a position in the restaurant sector. In year 2000 Pago Italia increased turnover by EUR 11.9mn to EUR 56.5mn.

AUSTRIA/ITALY: PAGO'S GROWTH FORECAST

Article Abstract:

The fruit juice producer Pago aims to double turnover to Sch 2.8bn by year 2002. Therefore the company is to make investments of about Sch 340mn. The growth is to be achieved without acquisitions. Pago is setting hopes especially on the Italian market, which already contributes 44% to turnover and where Pago is to start national marketing in 2000.
