Article Abstract:

CLSA Emerging Markets conducted a study of 495 emerging market companies and discovered that good corporate governance leads to good earnings and stock values. HSBC Holdings (Hong Kong) scored 93.5 percent in looking after the interests of their shareholders, following by Infosys (India) at 93.3 percent and Singapore Airlines at 85.7 percent.

Economists' outlook dims

Article Abstract:

Economic analysts in Singapore are losing their jobs as many investment banks and brokerage firms cut back on staff in the wake of the global economic downturn. Economists are in a precarious position because their jobs are sometimes seen as redundant and too often their predictions are wrong.

Singapore needs another shot in the arm

Article Abstract:

The government of Singapore expects a 3 percent contraction in the economy this year, with recovery not expected to begin until the middle of next year. The government was to announce a package of measures expected to total a minimum of S$2 billion.
