Inchon on final approach

Article Abstract:

Korea's Inchon International Airport is conducting test flights to evaluate control tower systems and additional systems tests using large aircraft and full passenger loads. The passenger load trials will be conducted in Oct and Nov 2000, before the airport's scheduled opening on Jan 1, 2001. As of the first quarter of 2000, airport construction and systems installation was more than 90% completed and on schedule to be finished by end of June.

China's airport expansion continues unabated

Article Abstract:

China's airports are experiencing an unprecedented expansion growth. This is due to the government's long-range plan to renovate, expand and construct 41 airports to bring the total of airports to 143 as stipulated in its Ninth Five-Year Plan. Government investment reached over RMB20 billion yuan in 1998 alone. Further investments are aimed at bringing the total of commercial airports to 165 as stipulated in the Tenth Five-Year Plan.

Baltic airports get ready to serve growing trade

Article Abstract:

Airports in the Baltic region are positioning themselves to take advantage of the growing trade within and outside the region. Sweden's Stockholm Armada Airport, touting itself as 'the gateway to the Nordic and Baltic Sea Region,' is investing heavily on an expansion program. Helsinki and St Petersburg airports, meanwhile, are competing to become the preferred transit point for long-haul connections to the Far East.
