Mellon is talking to Royal Bank unit

Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC's unit Citizens Financial Group, is engaged in advanced negotiations with Mellon Financial Corp. to acquire the latter's retail banking operations. Such a deal would have a value of at least $2 billion (2.4 billion euros).

Deutsche Bank names Ross to lead unit

Article Abstract:

John A. Ross was appointed by Deutsche Bank AG to become the chief executive and president of its Americas unit. Deutsche Bank's Americas unit will incorporate a large share of Bankers Trust Corp. following the completion of the $10.1 billion acquisition of the German bank. Mr. Ross is currently the Deutsche Bank Group Asia Pacific's chief executive. His appointment will become effective once the Bankers Trust deal is concluded.

Natasha Kagalovsky has quit her job as the Bank of New York executive in Moscow, Russia. One of her top executives, Lucy Edwards, and Edwards' husband, Peter Berlin, are under investigation, in an international money laundering operation that illegally transferred $7 billion out of Russia.
