Innovativeness in industrial organizations: a two-stage model of adoption

Article Abstract:

A two-stage model to predict the probability of adoption as a function of opportunities for adoption, innovativeness and past adoptions is developed and discussed. Previous models were fairly accurate but fell short in identifying the potential adopters of the innovations. The new model tested on a sample of 8,000 companies demonstrates its well rounded utility as a mechanism for assessing the marketability of innovative products.
