Integrated baggage handling from Alstec

Article Abstract:

Alstec Group is supplying its friction-free linear drive carousel to Turkey's Ataturk Airport and UK's Aberdeen Airport. The carousel comes with a series of linear induction motors installed at regular intervals along the track. It is available with a horizontal or an inclined-carrying surface and its modular construction allows the carousel to be configured to common layouts. Its standard specifications include 50kg per meter load capacity, 0.5m per second, 990mm moving surface width and 400mm height.

Radar across the Atlantic

Article Abstract:

Raytheon United Kingdom Ltd is supplying 50 Monopulse Secondary Surveillance Radar (MSSR) systems worth US$23 million to the FAA's Air Traffic Control Beacon Interrogator Replacement Program. The contract comes after a two-year evaluation period during which two MSSR systems were tested in UK. The company is also supplying the radars to the Abu Dhabi International Airport. The MSSR systems incorporate Mode S selective addressing capability.

BAA stays with Siemens

Article Abstract:

Siemens Airport Solutions was awarded the GBP300,000 contract to renovate the lighting on the runway at London Gatwick. The renovation is included in a GBP14 million programme to resurface the runway. Siemens will provide some 1,400 inset fittings on the approach, supplementary approach, threshold, runway end, centerline, touchdown zone, runway edge and rapid exits.
