H-P-Compaq merger faces big obstacles, strategic risk

Intel to sell mobile-chip business to Marvell in $600 million deal

Article Abstract:

Marvell Technology Group Ltd. of Bermuda is to acquire Intel Corp. of the United States for $600 million. The sale of Intel Corp. mobile communications-chip company blocks the path of diversification beyond personal computers for the company. Marvell Technology Group Ltd. share price is down 15 percent or $7.76 per share to $44.14 per share and Intel Corp. shares are down 23 cents to $18.05.
