Investors buy into Turkish Islamic bank

Article Abstract:

Ihlas Holding has sold a 10% stake at its Ihlas Finans Kurumu AS unit, an Islamic financing house, to New Frontier Emerging Opportunities Fund of the Bahamas, Quantum Emerging Growth Partners of George Soros and Turkish Growth Fund of Alliance Capital Management for $4.7 million. The sale agreement was pursued despite initiatives supported by the Turkish military calling for the curtailment of financial institutions that are based on religion. The three major foreign portfolio investors believe that their purchase of a stake at Ihlas Finans Kurumu provides excellent value for their investment.
